In a Nutshell...

Hi! My name is Chloe Jenniches and I am a high school student at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in San Francisco.  I am making seed boxes and classroom kits designed to grow native California plants that bees depend on, creating more habitat for bees. In the classroom kits, I have incorporated an art and science project using the seed paper to make paper helicopters that mimic natural seed dispersal. This allows teachers to teach their students not only about bee restoration but also about the physics of paper helicopters in relation to seed pods and biomimicry.  I am focusing my efforts towards honey bee restoration because they are so threatened right now by habitat destruction. I hope that my project will go on to help the reintroduction of native species and contribute to restoration locally and hopefully in other regions in the state or country. In addition to making the seed paper, I am hoping to collaborate with teachers to develop lessons connected to my project for different age groups. I am very passionate about my project and the world around me. I love teaching and learning about STEM and I would love to share my idea with students locally and nationwide to inspire them to love and appreciate nature as I do.
